Club Foot Orchestra: Metropolis (soundtrack)
The Village Voice described their work as "sophisticated melting
pot music, intensely complex compositions that demand virtuosic skill
and punk sensibility...along with a mischievious sense of satire."
This original new score to Fritz Lang's classic 1926 film was
recorded live in Virtual Audio. Includes Beth Custer's score Pool
of Thanatos.
Eric Muhs & Myles Boisen: Notochord
Subtitled "an electronic wonderland", Eric and Myles take the
listener through 17 sonic landscapes with the help of guests Fred
Lonberg-Holm (electric cello, trumpet) and Gino Robair
(traps, toys, theremin). Eric uses many of his homemade instruments
and his unique live tapeloop system, while Myles works his magic on
prepared guitar/bass, homemade instruments and electronics.
Printed in a limited edition of 500 copies in 1990.
Splatter 3+2:
Fistful of
Dewey
The Splatter Trio (Dave, Myles & Gino) are joined on this special
live recording by Len Paterson (guitar) and Michaelle
Goerlitz (congas, perc). Fistful of Dewey bears the fruit
of a collective gestation of the sounds of Miles Davis' early 70's
groups (hence the title: Miles Dewey Davis...). Plenty of hard
grooves, with all of the noisy bits you'd expect from Splatter
floating on top.
The Potato Eaters:
Wreckless
Recorded live at the Great American Music Hall, Wreckless
captures them at their best -- on stage! New songs include "Ruins",
"Wreckless", "Battle-Ax", and "Undertow". They also do a fine
cover of the Richard Thompson classic "Calvary Cross".
Marty Walker: Clarinets (LP)
Marty's fine bass clarinet playing appears on (Y)earbook Volume
3. On this LP he plays recent 20th classical pieces for clarinet
solo and with other instruments. Includes music by Harold Budd
(In Delius' Sleep), Christopher Hobbs (Recitative),
Barney Childs (The Edge of the World), and Jim Fox
(Solo for Single Reed Instrument). Guest appearances by Dave
Hatt (organ), Christopher Hobbs (vibes) and Barney
Childs (piano, celesta).
Rubin/Marsanyi/Brown: Swimming Without A Net
Robert Marsanyi appeared on (Y)earbook Volume 2 with
his self designed voice chips and improvisational software. Aric
Rubin (guitar) and David Brown (processing) appeared on
She Left Me For A She (BRD 001). Swimming Without A Net
combines the art of improvisation and open-ended composition with live
signal processing and computer interactivity. Or put simply: Live
music with people, computers and instruments!
Dave Hatt: The Coefficient of Restitution (metal
cassette)
20th Century solo piano works performed by Hatt, who appeared on
(Y)earbook Volume 1 playing prepared piano. Pieces include
Carl Ruggles' "Evocations", Barney Childs' "37 Songs",
and pieces by Harriett Bolz, Jim Teel, Gregory
Kosteck, and more prepared piano pieces by Dave Hatt. These are
the remaining copies of a very small run he produced, and we highly
recommend it!
